Chu Mei Feng Taiwanese Politician Sex Scandal

Chu Mei-feng, (Chu Mei-Fang/Chu Mei-Fung) was born in 1966. She is a Taiwanese politician, was director of Hsinchu's Bureau of Cultural Affairs. She is noted for her outspokenness, sharp-wittedness, and beauty.

Chu campaigned under the New Party (NP) for election to the Legislative Yuan's Taichung City electoral district and was seen as a threat to the incumbent Shen Chih-hui, despite a string of high-profile relationships including one with Hsinchu's mayor, Tsai Jen-chien, who was ten years older than she and a member of the rival Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

On December 17, 2001, the tabloid Scoop Weekly published a lengthy story about Chu's alleged promiscuity and distributed a video taken secretly with a pinhole camera, purportedly showing Chu having sex with a married man. The video was sold on Video CDs in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Chu sued the tabloid for libel on December 31, 2001. The magazines in question were pulled from the market as a result, but not before several thousand copies were sold. The video found its way onto the Internet.

Chu Mei-Fang was a former TV journalist also, and the release of the video created a storm of publicity in Asia and (thanks to copies circulated on the Internet) around the world. Investigators found that a friend of Chu's, Kuo Yu-ling, had installed a hidden camera in Chu's bedroom and sold the resulting video to Scoop.
