Yancy Butler was born Yancy Victoria Butler on the 2nd of July, 1970, in Greenwich Village, New York City, New York, USA. Her first role as an actress was on Mann & Machine in 1992. In 1993, she appeared in South Beach – all six episodes. In 1995, she was dancer in Let It Be Me, and then she was in Brooklyn South for its entire season run. In films, she first appeared in Hard Target, and then in Drop Zone. In 2001, she finally landed a role in a television series that lasting longer than one season – Witchblade. It had a cult following, but was cut after the second season in 2002. Rumours abounded that it was Yancy’s alcoholism that forced the cancellation of the show. Yancy eventually went into rehabilitation. She has since returned to her career, with an appearance in Bloodlines. She is now in the soap opera As the World Turns. In 2007, Yancy said a former boyfriend was stalking her. She has also been in trouble for drinking again and taking drugs, and has continually missed court appearances.
