Valerie Kaprisky was born August 19th, 1962 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Hauts-de-Seine, near Paris, France. Kaprisky is an actress who appeared in French softcore exploitation films during her late teens and early twenties, plus one well remembered attempt at a career in Hollywood. In 1981 she appeared in 3 movies, The Life of Courtisans, The Day Begins and the Cons Start, and a comedy Men Prefer Fat Girls. The following year she was the young Aphrodite (named Pauline) in the movie of the same name, basically a softcore B movie with slightly above average production and more plot and costumes, set before World War I. Kaprisky was given the opportunity to get out of French softcore by co-starring in a Richard Gere movie with the same exact sensibility called Breathless (1983). The story was written by Francois Truffaut, and turned into a screenplay by Jean-Luc Godard. The onscreen pairing of Kaprisky and the 13 year senior sexy Buddhist, Richard Gere, turned the two into a real life hot and heavy couple. However, the movie was a colossal critical failure and Kaprisky soon returned to France. Although she was nominated for a Cesar award (French Oscar equivalent) in 1984, that was the same year The New York Times declared her unsympathetic 18 year old nymphette in Les Annee Des Medusas (Year of the Jellyfish) proof she was a sex star, not an actress. Nonetheless, Kaprisky continues to act in French t.v. and cinema up to present.
