Who is Traci Lords?

Traci Lords was born Nora Louise Kuzma on the 7th of May, 1968, in Steubenville, Ohio, USA. She became famous when she began appearing in pornographic films and Penthouse when she was still underage. Her father was abusive and an alcoholic, and in 1983 she had an abortion, a nervous breakdown, and ran away from home. Using a friend’s birth certificate, she gained a drivers licence saying she was twenty two years old, and at just fifteen years old, she began her pornographic career. By the time Traci reached the real age of eighteen years old, she had been in over 100 pornographic movies. However, in her autobiography, Traci stated that 80 of the films were composed using leftover and re-edited footage from the twenty films she had actually been involved in. In 1986, the authorities discovered that she was underage. They arrested her and the owners of the movie agency. The entire porn industry was thrown into disarray as her movies and magazines had to be removed from stores and shelves to avoid child pornography trafficking laws. Traci claims that everyone got richer, in the end, from the increase in publicity. She is now appearing in mainstream films, releasing music, and attempting to go legitimate.
