Thora Birch was born on the 11th of March, 1982, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Her parents, Jack Birch and Carol Connors, were pornographic movie actors and can be seen in the notorious porn movie Deep Throat. From a young age, Thora’s parents took her to auditions. She won a role in several different commercials, and in 1988 she won the role of Molly in the television series Day By Day. In 1991, she landed the role (over 4000 other auditionees) for Billie Pike in the film Paradise with Melanie Griffith and Elijah Wood. She has since appeared in Hocus Pocus, All I Want for Christmas, Monkey Trouble, Patriot Games, and Clear and Present Danger. In 1995, she performed in the film Now and Then to critical acclaim. Taking a breather for a few years, Thora returned in 1999 for Night Ride Home and was cast in the film Election as Tammy Metzler. However, she clashed with the director/writer and Jessica Campbell was given the role. Thora’s best known role to date is in American Beauty, and she nominated for a BAFTA. She is briefly topless in the film, and needed her parents consent as she was just seventeen at the time. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in Ghost World. She is soon to be seen in Train, Tainted Love, and Shamrock Boy.
