Teri Hatcher was born Teri Lynn Hatcher on the 8th of December, 1964, in Palo Alto, California, USA. She is of Welsh, distant Choctaw Native American, French, German, and Syrian origins. Hatcher’s childhood was spent in Sunnyvale, California. In 2006, Hatcher admitted that she had been sexually abused from five years old by Richard Hayes Stone, an uncle by marriage. A later victim of his abuse committed suicide. As a child, Hatcher began taking ballet lessons, and eventually studied at the American Conservatory Theatre. In 1993, Hatcher leapt to fame as Lois Lane in Lois and Clark, with Dean Cain playing Superman/Clark Kent. Hatcher was also a Bond girl in Tomorrow Never Dies. Hatcher also guest starred on Seinfeld. Hatcher is now best known for her role as Susan Mayer on Desperate Housewives. She won a Golden Globe award, a Screen Actors Guild award, and was nominated for an Emmy award for portraying clumsy but lovable Susan Myers. In April 2006, she was one of the highest paid actresses in the USA at $285,000 per episode. In May that year, she released a book, and has since launched a clothing and merchandise line. Hatcher was married to Marcus Leithold in 1988, and divorced only a year later. In 1994 she married Jon Tenney, they had a daughter in 1997, and divorced in 2003.
