Talisa Soto was born Miriam Soto on the 27th of March, 1967, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Her parents shifted from Puerto Rico in the 1950s to her hometown of Brooklyn. Talisa became a loner after her family moved to Northampton, Massachusetts, and were one of only a handful of Puerto Rican families there. In 1982, at fifteen years of age, Talisa won a modelling job, and in 1985 she attempted to sign with Ford Modelling Agency. However, they declined, stating she looked too Latina. Instead, she signed with Click Model Management and travelled to Europe. She gained most of her jobs throughout Italy and France, and appeared on the cover of Mademoiselle, Glamour, Self, and Vogue. In 1988, Talisa began her acting career. She landed the role of India in Spike of Bensonhurst. In 1989, she landed the plum role of Lupe Lamora in Licence to Kill. Her acting career hasn’t looked back since, appearing with the likes of Johnny Depp, Lucy Liu, and Antonio Banderas. In 1997, she married Costas Mandylor, but they divorced in 2000. She married Benjamin Bratt in April 2002. In December that same year she gave birth to their daughter, Sophia Rosalinda Bratt. She gave birth to their son Mateo Bravery Bratt on the 3rd of October, 2005.
