Suzanne Somers was born Suzanne Marie Mahoney on the 16th of October, 1946, in San Bruno, California. Her father was a violent alcoholic, and Suzanne suffered from dyslexia. Suzanne attended San Francisco College for Women on a music scholarship, but left soon after becoming pregnant. She married the father, Bruce Somers, and gave birth to her son Bruce Jr. that same year in 1965. In 1968, Suzanne left her husband and began modelling. Three years later, Bruce Jr. was hit by a car, and Suzanne was arrested for writing a bad check. Finally, in 1977, she landed the role of ditzy Chrissy Snow on Three’s Company. In 1980, Suzanne demanded a raise from $30,000 an episode to $150,000 plus 10% ownership. It was refused, so Suzanne boycotted the second and fourth show of the season, feigning illness. She finished the season, but the producers cut her role to one minute per episode. After her contract expired, Suzanne sued, but she was only awarded $30,000 for one missed episode. In 1977, Suzanne married Alan Hamel. Suzanne appeared on the cover of Playboy, once in 1980 and once in 1984. In 1991 she landed a role on Step By Step, running for seven seasons.
