Who is Sophie Monk?

Sophie Monk was born Sophie Charlene Akland Monk on the 14th of December, 1979, in England. However, she grew up on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Sophie has been performing since she was eight years old. She drove all night to audition for the reality television series Popstars in Australia. Eventually she was selected as one of the members of the group, named Bardot. Bardot was the first Australian act to debut at number one with both the debut single and the debut album, and that was in 2000. In May, 2002, the group broke up. Sophie began to work on a solo career, travelling overseas to work with producers. Her first solo single achieved gold status. Her debut solo album performed disappointingly, and she left her record label. In 2006 she said she was finding new material, but it is yet to surface. Sophie has since moved to Hollywood, playing Marilyn Monroe in The Mystery of Natalie Wood in 2004. In 2006, she made her feature film debut in Date Movie, and she has since appeared in Click, and Entourage. She is engaged to Benji Madden from Good Charlotte and is often seen with Nicole Richie.
