Sophie Marceau was born Sophie Daniele Sylvie Maupu on the 17th of Novemner, 1966, in Paris, France. Her father was a truck driver and she grew up in the suburbs. At fourteen years old, Claude Pinoteau cast Sophie in the lead role of La Boum. She appeared in the sequel in 1982. The following year she was awarded with a Cesar for Most Promising Actress. At just eighteen years old, she appeared opposite Gerard Depardieu and Catherine Deneuve in Fort Saganne. She has also appeared in L’Amour braque, Mes nuits sont plus belles que vos jours, La Note bleue, and Fidelite. She also appeared in the US film Braveheart in 1995. She then broke the US industry with A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and appeared as Bond girl Elektra King in The World is Not Enough. She wrote a semi-autobiographical novel in 2001, and has moved into directing. Sophie married producer Andrzej Zulawski, 26 years older her, and they had one son together.
