Shalom Harlow was born on the 5th December 1973 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. She is a supermodel and actress. Though her mother named her Shalom, meaning "peace" in Hebrew, her family is not Jewish. She was discovered at a Cure concert in Toronto and started modelling straight out of high school. She has since appeared on numerous magazine covers, been in shows for fashion designers such as Ralph Loren and Donna Karan, she has also appeared in movies and co-hosted MTV's House of Style with friend and fellow supermodel Amber Valletta. She is a vegetarian and the spokesperson for Chanel's Coco fragrance. She has two younger brothers, Chris and Nathan. In July 2007, earning at an estimated total of $2 million in the past 12 months, Forbes named her thirteenth in the list of the World's 15 Top-Earning Supermodels. She is sometimes considered to already be a legend in the fashion industry, one of the elite models whose careers have never ceased. In 2007 alone, and well into her thirties, she was the face of Jones New York, Tumi, Tiffany & Co, Nautica and Cloe.
