Reese Witherspoon was born on the 22nd March 1976 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is an Academy Award winning actress. Reese landed her first feature role in the movie The Man in the Moon at age fourteen, followed by several moderately successful family oriented comedies and dramas in the early to mid 1990s, and then the teenage thriller Fear, where she became a teen idol. She emerged as a young woman in Election. She acquired her breakout role in Legally Blonde, a role she reprised in a sequel. In 2005, Witherspoon received worldwide attention for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in Walk the Line, a role that earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress. Speaking about her character in Legally Blonde she said "When I read Legally Blonde, I was like, 'She's from Beverly Hills, she's rich, she's in a sorority. She has a great boyfriend. Oh yeah, she gets dumped. Who cares? I still hate her.' So we had to make sure she was the kind of person you just can't hate". The fact that the movie was a box office hit made her famous but she also received critical acclaim for the role, the sequel was also acclaimed and a box office hit. She was personally chosen by June Carter Cash to play her in the movie Walk the Line but Reese never met her because she died soon after she made choice.
