Rachel Weisz was born on the 7th March 1971 in London, England. She is an Academy Award winning actress best known for her roles in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. Her rise to stardom has been meteoric to say the least, from unknown in 1996 to Hollywood super star by 2002. Her breakthrough role was that of Gilda in the 1995 West End revival of Noel Coward's 1933 play Design for Living. Having already worked for television, with parts in major UK series such as Inspector Morse in 1993. Rachel started her cinema career in 1995 with Chain Reaction and then in Stealing Beauty. She followed this work with more English films. Her breakout into wide audience recognition came from a popular serio-comic horror movie The Mummy. Since then she has starred in a number of films including The Mummy Returns in 2001(which grossed higher than the original), Enemy at the Gates (2001), About a Boy (2002), Runaway Jury (2003) and Constantine (2005, all box office successes. Also in 2005, she starred in The Constant Gardener, for his role, She won the 2006 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, the 2006 Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and the 2006 SAGA for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role.
