Rachel Shelley was born on the 25th August 1969 in Swindon, England. She is and actress, mainly on television. She graduated from Sheffield University with a B.A. Hons in English and Drama. She played the character Elizabeth Russell in the film Lagaan and, since 2005, plays Helena Peabody on the television show The L Word. Her credits include dozens of guest appearances on television shows on both sides of the Atlantic, but none have lasted more than one episode until The L Word, a part that was only supposed to be one episode. Surprisingly she has only ever had four movie parts, none of them leads or even co-star status except for Lagaan in which she is a co-star. She recently made a guest appearance on Ghost Whisperer but again the part wasn't repeated, though it was originally planned for five episodes. Her latest move is Grey Matter, released in early 2007, it was a box office failure but is doing better as a video release. She has a small but devoted fan base numbering just over six thousand according to the fan website which she endorses and even answers questions on. Rachel lives in Notting Hill and commutes to New York to film episodes of The L Word.
