Her career was launched with a part in a McDonalds commercial, and as an eight-year-old on the Canadian children's show The Kids of Degrassi Street, where she played Melanie Schlegel. She is probably best known for playing the part of Cher Horowitz (originally portrayed by Alicia Silverstone) on the television series Clueless, based on the 1995 movie of the same name. She received critical acclaim for her performance in the award-winning second series of British sitcom Peep Show in 2004. She reprised this role in the fourth series in 2007. Rachel has been featured as one of For Him Magazine's "100 Sexiest Women of the Year" on multiple occasions. Her ranking's included: seventy-third place in 2001 and thirty-seventh place in 2002. She recently appeared in the 2006 "scream-a-thon" Snakes on a Plane and in the 2007 film Flight of the Conchords. She seems to prefer roles in horror or gory thrillers as a first choice but has tried her hand successfully at comedy as well, mainly on the small screen.
