Polly Walker was born in Warrington, Cheshire, England on May 19, 1966. She originally wanted to be a dancer and worked hard at her training until the age of eighteen. Then she was seriously injured and had to give up her dream of being a dancer. She joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and began stage acting. It was not long, though, before she made the move to the small screen with a role in the television series, Lorna Doone. This was a huge break for her and she was cast in several other bit parts for television. In 1991, she was cast in Shogun Mayeda, her very first film. This led to parts in movies like Patriot Games and Enchanted April. Patriot Games is considered to be her breakthrough movie. From there, Walker did a variety of films while still picking up television roles in shows like Rome and Marple: At Bertram?s Hotel. During this time, she was also cast in films such as Restoration, The Gambler, Emma, Curtain Call and D-Tox. Her more current roles have been on television with the mini-series The Mayor of Casterbridge and at the moment, she plays the heiress to a sugar cane fortune in Cane, a television series revolving around the Latino mafia.
