Pink, also known as Alecia Beth Moore, was born on September 8, 1979 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She enjoyed writing lyrics at a young age, as an outlet for her emotional turmoil. At fourteen, Pink began to perform in clubs around the city, Two years later, she joined a band, Choice, and they signed a record deal with LaFace Records. One of their songs, Key to My Heart, was included in the Kazaam soundtrack. The band broke up shortly after recording an album that would never be released and Pink struck out on her own. At first, she was simply singing backup for the likes of Diana Ross, but then she came out with her solo hit, Gonna Make You Move (Don?t Wait). In 2000, her first album, Can?t Take Me Home, was released and went double Platinum. However, Pink was not impressed with the music or her pink hair, both choices of the record label. She was featured as one of the singers in Moulin Rouge, along with Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim and others. The remake of Lady Marmalade became the best selling single in the history of music. With her second album, M!ssundaztood, Pink fought for creative control and the result was a very different album, released in 2001. Her more recent albums are Try This and I’m Not Dead.
