Penny Smith was born September 21, 1958, in England. She began her journalism career on the Peterborough Evening Telegraph. She left the position after a four year stint and headed for Central and South America, where she backpacked through third world countries for a while. Later, she presented on Radio Television Hong Kong, while travelling in Asia. In 1984, she presented documentaries for Radio Trent, then later moved on to Central Television where she worked as a press officer for various television programs and documentaries. She also worked at Sky News before joining GMTV?s News Hour as a presenter in 1993. Smith has also done some acting, appearing in Just the Two of Us, singing alongside Curtis Stigers, earning herself the nickname Penny Dreadful. She has also appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Have I Got News for You. Penny has a series of yoga tapes as well, due to her passion for the exercise style. Her work is not limited to radio and television, though, this talented woman has also written for Good Housekeeping, Woman and Home, Essentials and has a beauty column in the Daily Mail, a newspaper in England.
