Paz Vega was born January 6, 1976, in Seville, Spain. Her birth name is Paz Campos Trigo, but she took Vega from her grandmother for stage use. She studied drama at the age of sixteen in the Centro Andaluz de Teatro. After two years of this, she studied journalism for a couple of years, then moved to Madrid where she landed a small role in Menudo es Mi Padre (Menudo is My Father), a telenovela. She was also given parts in two other telenovelas, Mas Que Amigos (More than Friends) and Companeros (Partners). Her first movie was Zapping in 1999, but she was also in I Will Survive, that same year, though her part was fairly small. She went on to appear in a large number of movies over the next several years, with El Chico en la Puerta (The Boy in the Door), Lucia y el Sexo (Lucia and Sex), Solo Mia (Mine Alone), and El Otro Lado de la Cama (The Other Side of the Bed). In 2005, she became famous in the United States with Spanglish, starring alongside Adam Sandlar. She was cast in 10 Items or Less, which was released the following year, along with Los Borgia and Fade to Black, all released in 2006. Her most recent film is Sisters, due to be out sometime in 2008.
