Patricia Velasquez was born January 31, 1971, in Zulia, Venezuela to a father who worked for the UNESCO. His job led him to work in other countries and so Patricia ended up living in France for part of her childhood, and Mexico, as well. She began to study in the university, but dropped out to pursue a modeling career in Milan, Italy. In 1997, she was back in Los Angeles, studying acting. She also studied in New York, before landing runway jobs with the likes of Versace, Dolce and Gabbana and Bella Freud. Her fame soared when she did a photo shoot for the Swimsuit Edition of Sports Illustrated. Like many models, Velasquez decided to try her hand at acting. Unlike most models, her acting career has been quite successful. Her first role was in the film, Le Jaguar, in 1996. The following year, she appeared in Eruption, then Beowulf and No Vacancy before taking the role of an Egyptian queen in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. She has appeared in a number of other films, including Committed, San Bernardo, Turn It Up, Mind Hunter and the made-for-television series The Twelve Days of Christmas Eve. Her career seems to be on hold at the moment.
