Parker Posey was named after a fifties model, Suzy Parker, and she was born on November 8, 1968 in Baltimore, Maryland. Posey studied drama after graduation and managed to land a part in the soap opera, As the World Turns, where she played Tess Shelby. She is known as the Queen of the Indies for having acted in over 30 independent films, including Kicking and Screaming, The House of Yes and Party Girl. Her first movie appearance was in the cult flick, Dazed and Confused. Posey also acted in several bigger movies, including Best in Show and You’ve Got Mail in 1998. In 2000, she had a part in Scream 3, and she has also appeared in The Sweetest Thing, Blade: Trinity, and Superman Returns, among many others. The actress has also expanded her horizons to theatre, taking roles in stage productions. She has also learned to play mandolin for an upcoming film where she had to sing and play the instrument. Posey’s other projects include voiceovers for Futurama and the Simpsons, serving as a guest judge for Project Runway’s 2005 season and the new upcoming television series, The Return of Jezebel James.
