Who is Mischa Barton?

Mischa Barton was born the 24th January 1986 in Hammersmith London, England. She is a fashion model and actress best known for her role as Melissa Cooper on the teen drama television series The O.C. She moved to the US when she was four but didn't become a citizen till 2006. She graduated from the Professional Children's School in Manhatten in 2004 and then attended classes at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2006. She began acting at the age of nine, co-starring the Off Broadway premiere of Slavs! She appeared in several other Off Broadway productions, finally taking a lead role in James Lapine's: Twelve Dreams at the Lincoln Center. She made her film debut in Lawn Dogs, which won awards at film festivals around the world. Since then she has appeared in several films, such as The Sixth Sense and Notting Hill. She was also seen in many various television commercials and print advertising campaigns. Long time friend and mentor Ivan Bart of IMG Models New York has represented her throughout her career. In August 2003, FOX premiered the television series The O.C., which became an instant overnight success. It put Mischa on the map from 2003 till 2006 when she left the show.
