Michelle Forbes was born Michelle Renee Forbes Guajardo on the 8th January 1965 in Austin, Texas, USA. She is an actress best known for her television work, on shows such as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Homicide: Life on the Street, Battlestar Gallactica and Prison Break. Initially wanting to do ballet, she moved to New York at age 16 to audition for a film role, and ended up with the William Morris Agency. In 1987, she was cast in a pivotal role on the daytime soap opera, Guiding Light. She received acclaim for her portrayal of the complicated dual role of Sonni/Solita; she was just 20 years old when she was cast. She earned a Daytime Emmy nomination. After this role, she continued in theatre, which was an early love of hers, and began appearing in small guest roles on television to raise her profile. It was one of these guest roles that was to shoot her to star status, on the sci-fi series Star Trek: The Next Generation, she appeared as a one episode character but the fans loved her instantly and the part was hugely expanded. Much to her Trekkie Fans she refused a regular role on Deep Space 9, another Star Trek spin off series, saying that she needed "variety". She has again grabbed Sci-fi fans with her awesome three-episode appearance in the TV series, Battlestar Galactica.
