Meg Tilly was born February 14th, 1960 in Texada, British Columbia, Canada. She intended to be a ballet dancer and even appeared as a dancer in the movie Fame, but while on scholarship at Madame Darvashs ballet school Tilly was dropped, her back fractured, and she was never able to dance professionally since. So she embarked on an acting career that has provided her a Golden Globe in the title role as Sister Agnes in Agnes of God (1985) starring Jane Fonda. She was the rich heiress in Masquerade (1988) who both a devilishly handsome, but possibly devilish Rob Lowe romances and marries and for whom a good looking but crooked police officer (Doug Savant from Melrose Place and Desperate Housewives) also pines away desperately. In spite of such box office success, critical acclaim, and the opportunity to be a leading lady to heartthrobs, even two at a time, Meg Tilly again decided to change careers. In 1994 she retired from acting with her last onscreen credit in 1995. Since then shes focused on her family and her third show of talent as an author. Shes published the well reviewed novels Singing Songs (1994, republished 2006), Gemma (2006) and Porcupine which will be coming out in Fall of 2008. Tilly is married with 3 children.
