Mary McCormack was born February 8th, 1969 in Plainfield, New Jersey. She is a respected stage, television and movie actress who debuted in Gian Carlo Menotts Christmas opera at age 12. She also appeared in Amahl and the Night Visitors and A Fair Country. McCormack not only completed an acting program at the William Esper Studio—fellow alums including Kathy Bates and Aaron Eckhart—but also majored in English and Painting at Trinity College. Television and film credits began with a single episode of Law & Order (1994), and progressed to a film role in Miracle on 34th Street (1994). Shes built momentum at a steady pace, gaining a role on t.v. show Murder One (40 episodes from 1995-1997) and then a part in the big budget Hollywood disaster movie about an asteroid that hits earth called Deep Impact (1998) starring Robert Duvall, Tea Leoni, and Morgan Freeman as the President. She was one of the stars of K-PAX (2001), with Kevin Spacey as the mental patient who says he is from outer space. Recently, McCormack appeared in 6 episodes of ER (2003-2006) and was nominated for 2 SAG awards as part of the ensemble cast of the West Wing (2004-2006). McCormack is married to producer Michael Morris, the couple has 2 children.
