Maria Bello was born April 18th, 1967 in Norristown, Pennsylvania. The actress was nominated for 2 Golden Globes for The Cooler (2003) and a History of Violence (2005). Her 11 career wins include a SAG award for being part of the ensemble cast of NBCs ER (1998). In 2004 she told Carrie-Anne Moss (Matrix trilogy) in Interview magazine that an acting class taken on a lark at Villanova University taught her acting is a craft, her entire body of work is the process of chipping away at a single piece of clay to achieve a complete piece of art. So for her, every single role has been as important as the last. Bello has given even more instructive insight into why her career could go that rare Susan Sarandon route of actually reaching her greatest heights after the age of 40. She got her first real role when she was 28, by which time she knew who she was, and secondly shes been choosing to play characters who are complete women. As luck would have it for audiences who like to see gifted actresses who take care of their craft in occasional big budget popcorn stuffers, Bellow will appear in the latest Mummy installment, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor slated for a 2008 release. Bello has a son with boyfriend, t.v. executive Dan McDermott.
