Who is Maggie Rizer?

Maggie Rizer was born on January 9th, 1978 in Watertown, New York. She is a model and AIDS activist. She has made news and been affected in a very traumatic way by her father, stepfather and mother. Her father was an openly gay man who died of AIDS when she was only fourteen and therefore Rizer had to grow up teaching herself about the disease and coming to terms with the devastating loss. Her entertainment career and activism have thus gone hand in hand early on. Her stepfather made news for a much more purposeful and inexcusable act of colluding with her accountant, and stealing all the money she earned as a model to leave her essentially penniless. In 2004 Rizers stepfather and accountant were both convicted of money laundering and gambling away her earnings. Rizers mothers choices of men in her childs life, therefore, have caused her pain ranging from the dramatic to the traumatic. The pluckiness that allowed Rizer to become a top model doing working with the likes of Victorias Secret to Calvin Klein, to her AIDS activism which teamed her with documentarian, Alexandra Kerry (daughter of Sen. John Kerry) will be required once again from here on out as the striking redhead attempts to rise triumphantly from yet a second set of devastating, life altering circumstances.
