Lucy Lawless was born on March 29th, 1968 in Mount Albert, an extinct volcanic peak in suburban Auckland, New Zealand. She is primarily a television actress as well as a singer best known for her role as Xena: Warrior Princess (1995-2001). Lawless is now a bit of a genre queen as well, shes appeared in the Spider-Man movie (2002) as Punk Rock Girl, seven episodes of the television series Tarzan (2003), thirteen episodes of the new Battlestar Gallactica (2005-2007), and sci-fi/fantasy/comic book fans will be thrilled to know shes going to be the voice of Wonder Woman in the upcoming animated Justice League: the New Frontier, currently in production. Lawlesses credentials as a wonder woman have been made in steel with her ultimate portrayal as Xena, the healer and sword swinging fighter who adventures her way through the mythological quasi-Greek and wider ancient world with her female companion Gabrielle. Lawless as Xena appeared first in Hercules: the Legendary Journeys (show run 1995-1999, with Xena in 8 episodes from 95-98) starring Kevin Sorbo. Xena: Warrior Princess was a spinoff American production filmed in New Zealand, just like Hercules on both counts. The show gained a strong cult status that continues to this day with comic book and video game adaptations.
