Lorena Herrera was born February 18, 1967 in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. She is an international model, singer, prolific actress, and is the author of Tips de Belleza de Lorena Herra, or Lorena’s Beauty Tips (1998). Herreras first real exposure was a small role in a popular telenovela Muchachitas (1991), or Young Girls, a Latin American hit that primarily followed four other girls from acting school in their dreams of becoming successful actresses. Several of the actors later became real life stars, including Herrera. The real jumping off point for Herrera came from another minor role in the megahit telenovela Dos Mujeres, Un Camino (1993), Two Women, One Road. The telenovela had enormous impact and reignited the careers of two actors – gorgeous Latina Bibi Gaytan who was already popular in Mexico but to become known more widely and even become beloved due to this soap opera drama. Dos Mujeres, Un Camino is also significant for giving aging ChiPs hunk Erik Estrada a much needed shot of career adrenaline as a married Tijuana trucker who falls in love with Bibis character after almost killing her on the highway. As for Herrera, she was the mistress of one of the shows villains, and was killed off in dramatic style. The moment was such a sensation across Mexico, Latin America, and the Spanish speaking parts of the U.S. that Herrerra instantly became a well known sex symbol.
