Lexa Doig was born on June 8th, 1973 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Whether by accident, good fortune, strange circumstances, or design, Doig is almost exclusively a science fiction television actress with strong tekkie support. Her first on air gig was as one of the hosts of a t.v. show called Video & Arcade Top Ten (1991) where kids were chosen from the audience to compete at playing video games for prizes. Soon after she began working on projects connected to Gene Roddenberry and other sci-fi (and some horror) roles. Her first important part was in William Shatners TekWar television shows adapted from his books as the character called Cowgirl. Doig was directed by Shatner in the first instalment, Tekwar (1994), which was nominated for a Saturn Award. Since then Doigs gone on to appear in 1996s Flash Gordon as the voice of Dale Arden, thirteen episodes of CI5: The New Professionals, and 103 episodes of Gene Roddenberrys Andromeda from 2000-2005. Recently she played Dr. Carolyn Lam on 13 episodes of Stargate SG-1. Science fiction has given her an entire family as well, she and fellow sci fi t.v. star Michael Shanks (Andromeda, Star Crossed) married in 2003 and already have two children.
