Laurie Holden was born on the 17th December 1972 in Los Angeles, California, USA but she was raised in Canada. She is an actress with dual citizenship with the United States and Canada, which is the most believed reason for her not being as well regarded in the "business" as she should be. As a child she travelled the world with her director father, this led to her first film role at the age of six. While on location with her father the young actress who was cast to play Rock Hudson's daughter in The Martian Cronicles suddenly fell ill and Laurie was thrown in to take over. As a teenager, she won the "Look of the Year" modelling pageant in Toronto. She is most noted for the recurring role of Marita Covarrubias in the X-Files and co-starring with Jim Carrey in the film The Majestic but is also well known for her role of the police officer, Cybil Bennet in the Silent Hill movie. She is the daughter of actors Larry Holden and Adrienne Ellis. She spent her freshman year at McGill University, and then transferred to UCLA to do a BA in theatre arts. Her adult film career started in Separate Vacations in 1986.
