Laura San Giacomo was born on the 14th November 1962 in West Orange, New Jersey, USA. She is an actress. She is best known for two roles, one on television as Maya Gallo in the NBC sitcom Just Shoot Me. The other as the hooker with a heart of gold and smart mouth, Kit De Luca in the blockbuster movie Pretty Woman. In her early career she had no interest in television, being determined to make it as a Hollywood film actress. She succeeded when she first drew international attention in Steven Soderberg's film, Se, Lies and Videotape in 1989, which was her film debut. Her work was nominated for a Golden Globe, and she also received a Los Angeles Film Critics Association New Generation Award. The film itself was honoured with the Cannes Film Festival's prestigious Grand Prize, the Palme d'Or. She cemented her reputation as a bankable actress from her role in the film Pretty Woman in 1990. The blockbuster movie ended up generating $178 million at the box office. All the movies she appeared in from then till her son was born in 1996 made money. Once he was born she decided to switch to television as she didn't want to be away from him for the months it took to shoot a movie, her next role was in the series Just Shoot Me from 1997 to 2003.
