Kate Bosworth was born on the 2nd January 1983 in Los Angeles, California. She is an actress best known for three of her roles, the first in The Horse Whisperer in 1998, then in Blue Crush in 2002 and finally Superman Returns as Louis Lane in 2006. She is much in demand at the moment with three films in post-production and two more "announced" for production in early 2008. Her ambition after leaving high school was to have a professional career as a competitive horse racer and, by the age of fourteen, she was a champion equestrian. Her first film role came after an open casting call in New York for the supporting part of Judith in the 1998 film, The Horse Whisperer. The film's producers needed someone who was already an experienced horse rider, leading to Kate's successful audition for the role. She subsequently had a small part in the 2000 film Remember the Titans. After that she had a role in the short-lived TV series, The Young Americans. Then she was cast in the lead role for Blue Crush, a box office and critical success. As well as television and film work she has appeared in several Revlon ads and ranked as number sixty in FHM's "100 Sexiest Women in the World 2005" list. For two years running, she has placed on the Maxim Hot 100 List, number thirty-eight in 2005 and number eight in 2006.
