Justine Bateman was born on the 19th February 1966 in Rye, New York. She is an actress. Her father, Kent Bateman is an acting coach, film and television writer/director, and founder of a repertory stage in Hollywood. In 1984, Bateman starred in the Tales from the Darkside television series. Her best known role is a Mallory Keaton, the airheaded teenage daughter in the sitcom, Family Ties from 1982 to 1989. Mallory was was fodder for jokes and teasing from her brother Alex (Michael J Fox). She hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live in 1988. 1988 was also the year of her best known movie role, in Satisfaction, opposite Julia Roberts and Liam Neeson. The film is about an all-girl band, Justine starred as the lead vocalist and also performed the vocals on the soundtrack. She revealed to TV Guide in 1996 that she had struggled with anorexia, bulimia and compulsive overeating while making Family Ties. She was able to overcome her eating disorder through a twelve-step program and Christianity. Justine is married to Mark Fluent and has two children, a son and a daughter. She also has her own fashion design company and serves on the National Board of Directors of Screen Actors Guild.
