Jennifer Jason Leigh is the daughter of actor Vic Morrow and screenwriter Barbara Turner. She was born in Hollywood, California on February 5, 1962 and began her acting career at the tender age of nine. She changed her name to Jason Leigh later in life. She joined the Screen Actors Guild at the age of sixteen while appearing in the television show Baretta. For her role in The Best Little Girl Ever as an anorexic teen, Leigh dropped her weight down to a mere 86 pounds, under medical supervision. After her amazing performance in the movie, Leigh went on to act in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, the same movie that gave a number of new actors their start, including Nicolas Cage, Sean Penn and Forest Whitaker. Her television appearances include shows like The Waltons, Trapper John, M.D, and Herculese. She has appeared in over 60 films in her career, not including her television appearances. Some of her movie credits are pretty impressive, such as eXistenZ, The Machinist, Bastard Out of Carolina and Single White Female. Her most recent projects include Margot at the Wedding, Lymelife (set for release in 2008) and Synecdoche, New York, which is still in post-production.
