Jennifer Garner is originally from Houston, Texas, where she was born on April 17, 1972. She started taking ballet classes when she was just three, and continued to dance until she was a teen, though she never planned to do it professionally. After graduating from high school, she attended Denison University where she started out studying chemistry, she soon switched to drama. Once she graduated from Denison, Garner studied stage fighting and was told that she was a natural. Moving to New York, she worked for $150 a week as an understudy, while doing auditions. Her first real acting gig was in Zoya, a television movie. She was also in Felicity, Significant Others, and Time of Your Life. She had small parts in a couple of movies before being cast in her starring role in the television series Alias. She was on the show for five seasons, with the fifth being cut short due to her pregnancy. She has also appeared in a variety of movies throughout her career, including Pearl Harbor (with future husband Ben Affleck), Catch Me If You Can, Daredevil, Electra and more recently, Catch and Release. She has also formed a production company called Vandalia Films.
