Jennifer Connelly was born December 12, 1970 in the Catskill Mountains, New York, though she grew up in Brooklyn. When she was ten, she did her first modelling audition and quickly began to receive work. She appeared in ads in magazines like Seventeen and for the newspaper. Shortly after beginning her career as a print model, Connelly moved on to television commercials. Her parts in commercials quickly turned into movies and she took a role in the 1984 gangster film, Once Upon a Time in America. A year later she appeared in Seven Minutes in Heaven and Phenomena, but her real acting start was in the film Labyrinth. She went on to star in a variety of low-profile movies including Dennis Hopper’s The Hot Spot in 1990. She also recorded a Christmas album during this time called Jennifer’s X?mas. In 1991, the young actress was featured on the Cover of Esquire and shortly afterwards, she starred in I Drove All Night, Roy Orbison’s music video. Other film credits include Requiem for a Dream, The Hulk, and A Beautiful Mind, which won her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She is currently filming Reservation Road, a movie set to come out in 2008.
