Jane Seymour, aka, Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, was born in England on February 15, 1951. Her birth name was Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg, but she took the stage name of Jane Seymour (also the name of Henry VIII’s third and most beloved wife) when she was just seventeen. She first appeared in Oh! What a Lovely War, though she wasn’t named in the credits. Her first true acting gig was in The Only Way, where she played a Jewish woman in hiding from the Nazis. In the early 70?s, she appeared in The Onedin Line and the two part mini-series called Frankenstein: The True Story as well as Young Winston. Seymour was made famous by her role as Solitaire in the James Bond flick, Live or Let Die. She was also cast in both the film Battleship Galactica and the series by the same name, though her character was killed after just two episodes. In 1993, she took the role that would make her, as a female Wild West doctor in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. That show ran until 2001. She also made guest appearances on Smallville, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and in 2005, she began to work in movies again, appearing in Wedding Crashers. Her latest projects include participating in Dancing with the Stars, season 5.
