Jane Fonda got off to a rocky start in life. Born on December 21, 1937, in New York City, New York, to parents Henry Fonda (the actor) and Socialite Frances Ford Seymour, she had to suffer trials early on when her mother committed suicide. Jane was just twelve at the time. She was a fashion model, appearing on the cover of Vogue magazine two times, before she met Lee Strasberg, a renowned drama instructor, thanks to her father making the introductions. She joined Strasberg?s acting studio and began to study. She worked on the stage during the late 50?s and jumpstarted her career in 1960 with Tall Story, then going on to act in Walk on the Wild Side, which won a Golden Globe for her. She was very prolific in the 1960?s, appearing in 2 movies nearly every year, including Any Wednesday, Barefoot in the Park, They Shoot Horses, Don?t They? and Barbarella, which turned her into the sex symbol that she took over a decade to get away from. In 1971, she won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Klute. After this, her movies failed to be successful for several years until Fun with Dick and Jane in 1977. A year later, she received her second Academy Award for her performance in Coming Home. She has been in literally dozens of movies over the years, with her latest movies being Monster-In-Law and Georgia Rules.
