Jane Birkin was born on December 14, 1946 in London, England. She began her acting career in the 60?s, creating quite a stir by being the first actress to show her pubic hair in a mainstream film in the movie Blowup in 1966. Two years later, she tried out for and got the lead role in Slogan, a French movie, despite the fact she spoke no French at all. On the set of this film, she met Serge Gainsbourg, with whom she would sing the duet Je t?aime . . . moi non plus (Love-Hate Relationship) at a later date. The two were also married from 1968 to 1980. The song was banned from many radio stations because it had a background of a woman moaning in pleasure and having an orgasm. In 1975, her husband directed a film by the same name as the song, which was also quite sexual and featured Birkin as the lead. She went on to act in a variety of different movies including Death on the Nile, Scarface, Leave All Fair and a large number of French-language titles. She continues to act to this day, with her more recent projects including La Tete de Maman (In Mom?s Head), Merci Docteur Rey (Thank You, Doctor Rey) and Boxes. She is also scheduled to act in a French-language movie, Miss Oliver a file a l?anglaise, which is in pre-production.
