Isla Fisher was born on February 3, 1976 in Muscat, Oman, but moved to Australia when she was nearly ten months old. Her parents are Scottish, but were in Oman because her father worked for the United Nations. Her mother was a romance novelist and helped Isla write two novels when she was just 18. Both, Bewitched and Seduced by Fame, were bestsellers. In 1994, Fisher was cast in the Australian soap opera Home and Away and played the part of Shannon Reed for three years on the show. She left Home and Away to study theatre in Paris and later did pantomime around the United Kingdom. After this, she appeared in a variety of plays, including Cosi in London and Summer Holiday, a musical by Darren Day. Despite her seeming success in the theatrical world, Fisher dreamed of being on the silver screen and she finally made that dream come true in 2002 when she appeared in Scooby Doo, then again in Wedding Crashers in 2005. She won the Breakthrough Performance Award for her role in the latter at the MTV Movie Awards. Her movie career has continued with London, in 2006 and The Lookout and Hot Rod in 2007 and is currently filming several other movies.
