Holly Marie Combs is best known for her character, Piper, on the hit magic series Charmed. Born in San Diego, California, on December 3, 1973, Combs attended The Professional Children's School of Acting in New York as a child. She quickly began to land small acting jobs in commercials for both print and television, but her career didn’t take off until 1992, when the teen actress was given the part in the TV series, Picket Fences. She won a Young Actor’s award for her performance, but the show ended after four years. During this time, Combs also had small roles in A Chain of Desire, Dr. Giggles and Simple Men, as well as A Reason to Believe, all Hollywood films. She was also cast in two made-for-television movies, A Perfect Stranger and Sins of Silence. Once Picket Fences finished up, Combs did a guest appearance on Relativity and took on a couple more made-for-television movies, Our Mother’s Murder and Love’s Deadly Triangle: The Texas Cadet Murder. She discovered the script for Charmed on the backseat of her friend, Shannon Doherty’s car and decided to audition for the part of Pru in the show, while Doherty tried out for the part of Piper. The girls were given each other’s roles and Comb became the second eldest of the four Halliwell sisters, though she was the youngest actress.
