Helen Hunt, of Mad About You fame, was born in Culver City, California on June 15, 1963. Her father, Gordon Hunt, was an acting coach and film director and began training Helen from the age of 8 to become an actress. She appeared as a child in the 1970?s on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the Facts of Life, as well as landing a steady part in the television series version of The Swiss Family Robinson. She continued to work in television, with many one-time appearances in a huge array of series, including Family, The Bionic Woman, and Darkroom. During this time, Hunt also landed a few movie roles, with the most notable ones being Transplant in 1979, Angel Dust in 1981 and The Best Little Girl in the World. Other TV credits include The Hitchhiker, St. Elsewhere and Highway to Heaven. Finally, she beat out Teri Hatcher for the part of Jamie Buckman in Mad About You, which ran from 1992 until 1999. She took on a few movies after the sitcom ended, Pay It Forward, What Women Want and Castaway were all huge hits in 2000. After a couple more movies in 2001, she took a break from the big screen and headed for the theatre, playing Viola in a Shakespearean play, Twelfth Night. In 2004, she made mini comeback with A Good Woman. She also has a number of writing, producing and directing credits to her name.
