Heidi Klum, the world famous supermodel, was originally born in Bergisch Gladbach, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on June 1, 1973. She won a modelling contest in 1992 and was given a huge modelling contract worth $300,000. Changing her plans to study as a fashion designer, Klum took the contract upon graduation and has since appeared on the covers of Vogue, ELLE, and Marie Claire, among other fashion magazines. She has also done extensive work for Victoria?s Secret, though it was an appearance on the a Sports Illustrated cover that shot her to fame. She decided not to stick to modelling and began to take on spokesperson positions for companies like Jordache, Braun and Liz Claiborne, as well as expanding into acting. She has appeared in TV shows like Spin City, Yes, Dear and Sex in the City, and movies, including Ella, Enchanted, The Devil Wears Prada and Perfect Stranger. Other projects that Klum worked on include a co-authored biography, Heidi Klum?s Body of Knowledge, a music CD, video games (including James Bond) and painting. In 2007, she was added to the list of the World?s 15 Top-Earning Supermodels, compiled by Forbes. Klum was number three on the list, with earnings around $8 million in the previous year.
