Gwyneth Paltrow was born into the film business, on September 27, 1972, to an actress mother, Blythe Danner, and a father who directed, wrote and produced both films and television shows. She began her acting career on the stage, in 1990 and moved straight to film in Shout, 1991. Later that same year, a family friendship with Steven Speilberg was leveraged and she was given the part of Wendy in the 1991 children?s film, Hook. Over the next three years, Paltrow acted in Malice and Flesh And Bone, but didn?t become a household name until she acted opposite Brad Pitt in Se7ev. The following year, in 1996, she starred in Emma. These two films launched her acting career and Paltrow went on to take part in the film Shakespeare In Love, which won her both a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Lead Role, and an Oscar. She went on to star in movies such as A Perfect Murder, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Bounce before moving on to lower profile films like Proof, Shallow Hal, Sylvia and Duets, where she debuted her singing voice. She is set to host a new television series called Spain . . . On The Road Again, which focuses on Spanish food and culture.
