Glenn Close was born on the 19th March 1947 in Greenwich, Connecticut, USA. She is an Emmy Award and five times Tony Award winning actress. She has also been nominated five times for the Academy Award and seven times for the Golden Globes. Close comes from an upper class family that includes Brook Shields, her second cousin. Until the 1990's her career was in movies and the theatre. She won her first Tony Award in 1984 for her performance in The Real Thing but her best known work on stage is in the Andrew Lloyd Webber production of Sunset Boulevard. Her movie credits go Back to The World According to Garp in 1982. Her most memorable movie roles (critically acclaimed) are as the scheming aristocrat in Dangerous Liasons and her chilling performance as the psychotic book editor in Fatal Attraction. However, nearly every one remembers her as the evil Cruella de Vil in the Disney classics, 101 Dalmatians and its sequel, 102 Dalmatians. In 2005 she accepted a role in the FX cop drama The Shield, she was such a success that the producers offered her her own won show, Damages which is currently showing on TV's around the globe. She is currently married to David Shaw, her third marriage and has one daughter. She is also well known for her large contributions to Democratic Party politicians and for her love of the NY Mets baseball team.
