Foxy Brown was born Inga Marchand in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York City, on the 6th September 1978 or 1979. The controversy over her birth year is due to the fact that on her MySpace account she lists it as 1979 but she has been arrested numerous times and all the police reports say it is 1978. The hip-hop artist has added to the controversy by stating that in 2006 she was twenty-six but had been in the industry since the age of fourteen. Her known history says she had been in the industry for fourteen years in 2006, which would make her twenty-eight years old. Brown has released only three albums in her career, "Ill Na Na" in 1996, "China Doll" in 1999 and "Broken Silence" in 2001. During 1998 she did a spent a short period in the group "The Firm". She seems to do a lot of collaboration work with other artists, having rapped over at least a dozen other albums released during her career. She started her career signed to Def Jam records but was dropped, very acrimoniously, by the label in 2003. Currently she is signed with Koch Records. In August 2007 she announced she was pregnant and planning on getting married. Three weeks later she was sentenced to one years jail but no mention was made of the pregnancy, her agent has since said that she is not pregnant.
