Who is Fernanda Tavares?

Fernanda Tavares was born on the 22nd of September, 1980, in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. She is a model who began appearing in shows at the tender age of nine years old. In 1993, she won the Elite Look of the Year, and went to Sao Paulo to pursue modelling full time. When she was seventeen, she had already appeared on the cover of some of the most famous magazines in the world – Marie Claire and Vogue among them. She has also graced the pages of Elle, Cosmopolitan, and of course the illustrious Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She has also worked for Chanel, Versace, Chloe, Christian Lacroix, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, Valentino, and Missoni. She is also well known for her appearance in the Ralph Lauren Spring 2000 Collection. She is also a VJ for MTV Brazil, appears regularly for Victoria’s Secret, and appears in anti-fur commercials for PETA. One of her good friends is fellow model Gisele Bundchen. She is making a move towards acting now, appearing as Francesca in Gomez vs. Tavares in 2007.
