Mendes dropped out of college to begin her acting career. She began in commercials, then music videos, to soap operas, to supporting film roles. Her first break came when she landed the role in Training Day. She then gained roles in Stuck on You, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and then finally she landed the lead role against Will Smith in the romantic comedy Hitch. She has since appeared with Nicolas Cage in Ghost Rider, and Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg in We Own the Night. Mendes has some other interesting credits to her name. She is a spokesmodel for cosmetics giant Revlon. She has also worked as an interior designer, and she occasionally writes children’s books. In 2007, she appeared on the cover of Maxim, and she also ranked number 7 on their Hot 100 issue. She is romantically linked with film director George Gargurevich. There are a few inconsistencies in this beauty’s date of birth – occasionally 1978 is listed rather than 1975.
