Emma Bunton was born on the 21st of January, 1976 in Finchley, London, England and grew up in Woodside Park. She was Baby Spice in the English girl group pop sensation, The Spice Girls. Although Bunton wore her hair in pigtails, and donned baby doll dresses to play up to her character, the group was rather refreshing to many mothers of their young fans. The message Girl Power, was often screamed in concert and they encouraged a lot of women with a message of female empowerment and camaraderie. Notably, news anchor Katie Couric openly praised the group when they made their 90s girl group version of the Beatles crossing into America with the hit single, Wannabe. Between 1994 and 2001, the Spice Girls were together and made three albums ultimately selling over 50 million records and even producing a movie tie-in to the second album titled Spice World. After the group broke up, Bunton stayed busy releasing three albums A Girl Like Me, Free Me, and Life in Mono. She gave birth to her first child, a son, in 2007 and now the Spice Girls have announced they are reunited with plans for a worldwide tour.
